Use your personal gifts to combat the evil engulfing us!

From an old Christian hymn: “If you cannot preach like Peter, if you cannot pray like Paul, you can tell the love of Jesus and say he lives for all!”

So many incredibly talented people here and elsewhere in opposition to the forces of evil. It’s so much more than politics. In opposition to the evil everyone should use her or his gifts to bring their best to the struggle.

I’m a retired pastor and seminary preaching professor. My interests and skills didn’t retire with me. I’m going to preach a sermon tomorrow on my Substack called Preaching and Politics. It will be about the episode in ancient Israel when the Israelites decided they had to have their very own king like their more affluent neighbor nations. They would rue that decision.

Also tomorrow I’ll be showing up at stores and coffee shops near protest sites and police hangouts wearing this 4×6 inch name tag. If the whole pic isn’t showing for you it says: Liberal Clergy for Living Like Jesus. Love✅ Peace✅ Judgement 🚫 Aggression 🚫

It feels like next to nothing compared to what many are doing. But it’s what I can do at the moment. If you’re a musician, write us a song. If you’re an artist, paint us a picture. Florist? Sustainable arrangement for us. Architect? Design a building where once this nonsense is over Americans now and for many generations forward can come to celebrate the reclaiming of the freedoms we nearly squandered away to MAGAts. Librarian? Provide us some details of books that helped get us through. Photographer? Take photos. Stripper? Wear a King’s crown g-string and/or taco pasties. Spirituality grounded? Pray without ceasing. You get my point. Stay safe with whatever you do.
