The eminent theologian, KKKaroline Leavitt, slams the doctrine of the virgin birth of Jesus.
The doctrine of the virgin birth—slam!
I am not a fan of the doctrine of the virgin birth of Jesus. It evolved because of a belief in the inherent moral impurity of human beings. I reject that notion.
Mary, the doctrine says, gave birth to Jesus as a virgin without ever having had sexual intercourse with a man. In this view, God‘s spirit caused the embryo that became Jesus to take shape in Mary’s womb. No sex. Though I barely remember it, I do not think sexual expression is dirty or tainted or connected to sin necessarily in any way.
In trying to protect Donald Trump from the wrath of the religious right if ANY MORE of the accusations made against him of sexual abuse, including sexual activity with children, are proven. Theologian Leavitt starts talking about how young Mary was when she gave birth to Jesus, as young as 12 years of age said KKK, which could be ballpark. I think 14, but I wouldn’t split snares.
If Mary gave birth to Jesus without Joseph’s involvement, then the age wouldn’t matter. It would be irrelevant to the argument. But since KKK wants to use Mary and Joseph to make it OK for an adult to have sexual intercourse with a child, should Donald Trump be successfully accused and convicted, she brings up Mary’s age. Again, Mary’s age was irrelevant unless there was sexual involvement in getting her impregnated, which Leavitt believes—thus tossing the doctrine of the virgin birth.
KKK’s mindless blabber discounts the doctrine of the virgin birth. (Imagine the surprise of Roman Catholic and Protestant traditionalists who embrace the doctrine!) It’s a disgusting waste of air and energy— air on her part and energy on the part of anyone trying to listen to her.
As I said, I wouldn’t defend the doctrine. Believing it or not has nothing to do with someone’s personal connection to God. The fact that MAGAts believe a political operative can determine theological orthodoxy is the second most disturbing part of this. Nothing about Mary or Jesus can get Trump off the hook.
