MAGAt forbears taking over the Southern Baptist Convention (fueled by Mike Johnson’s one time inspiration, disgraced Judge Paul Pressler) was a rehearsal for taking over the country. They won.

Politically-charged Christian fundamentalists are ruthless in every respect.

The law school established at Louisiana College carried the name Pressler Law School in honor of disgraced Judge (the late) Paul Pressler. This was the one you have probably heard about that appointed Mike Johnson as dean; in two years he never recruited a single student, and the doors never opened. Things petered out, you could say.

Pressler has been called the architect of the Southern Baptist takeover. Meticulously and methodically board members of every Southern Baptist agency were replaced as their terms expired with Pressler’s handpicked hardline right wing “Christian” reconstructionist types, forbears of today’s MAGAts. As they became a majority on each of the boards of six seminaries, two missionary agencies, the publishing arm of the SBC and more, they recklessly and carelessly terminated anyone who would not subscribe to their theological articles, which were based on blind literal interpretation of all aspects of Hebrew and Christian scripture.

Faithful and gifted, long-tenured professors and missionaries around the world were terminated and left on the streets with no jobs and no incomes. Pressler and company took utter delight in the crises in which these good people were left.

I share this information here on Substack because the Pressler fundamentalists won. Pressler was mentor to Mike Johnson for a time. What I’m telling you is that their tactics could work on a larger scale, a national scale. And since, in their false piety, they baptize in white robes all of their evil deeds, the rank and file person falls for it, and takes their actions to be ordained by God. Thus the battle becomes construed as between God and infidels.

The progressives in the fray lost in large part not because of apathy exactly, but because of their natural civility and the telltale trait of political and religious progressives—a respectful live and let live attitude. These will lead to loss again.

If these godless faux Christians win, and they’ve already won several critical rounds, the future for their enemies is beyond bleak. Putin loves them.
