Jamie Lee Curtis on Charlie Kirk’s murder
Sigh
I think Jamie Lee Curtis is a phenomenal actor and a very fine person. I saw her comments regarding the shooting death of Charlie Kirk written up. With absolute respect, I honor her right to her opinion. I have a concern, however. It is not about her compassion, which is entirely well placed. My concern is that she referred to Mr. Kirk as a “man of faith.”
It is not unusual for lots of people to be touched, even inspired, by someone who has made a claim of being a person of faith. The problem with that is there have been untold numbers of people who claimed to have faith. The question always has to be asked, therefore, “Faith in what?” Even if the answer is, “In God,” clarification is needed because not every conceptualization of God is accurate. A god-concept that generates hatred instead of love is not the God to whom Jesus pointed.
In Christian scripture, people of faith are known as such because of their words and deeds. Jesus taught, “By their fruits you shall know them.”
