I’m a retired preaching professor, and I’m thinking of your former pastor’s sermon in which he spoke very shocking words: “…God damn America….” Rev Dr Jeremiah Wright was speaking as a prophet. The disdain many felt for him without knowing any more of what he said than the pretend news sources ran with, one phrase, was nearly palpable.
A regular assignment for my intro to preaching students at Palmer Seminary became listening to the whole sermon. Imagine! I wonder how JW would tweak that sermon for delivery this coming Sunday.

With full respect and admiration for Rev Wright my own theology says God does no damning. If there’s damning we damn ourselves. We have been doing that for a long time passively allowing the Republicans in cahoots with the powers of darkness to build this evil shadow empire until they and Putin found just the right willful sociopath to be the front.
God does no damning. If there’s damning we damn ourselves.
Do I ever long for a return to the days of your presidency. Way more often than a humble Jesus-like person as you would imagine.
