“And then they came for me….” Niemöller for today.

Then, Pastor Martin Niemöller, 1946
"First, [the Nazis] came for the Communists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me."
Now, David Albert Farmer borrowing Niemöller‘s wisdom, 2025
First, the MAGAts came for the immigrants, and I did not speak up because I was not an immigrant.
Then they came for all those who had ever tried to bring Felon Trump to justice, and I didn't speak up because I'd never had one of those professional responsibilities.
Then they came for journalists who had reported Trump's evil deeds and illegalities, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't such a journalist.
Then they came for transsexuals, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't trans.
Then they came for me as I refused to bow down before an idol of Trump or cower in the face of his threats to the disloyal, and no one was left to ensure my freedom.
