A follow-up question to Catholic Bishop Mark Seitz of El Paso asked also of Bishop Sean Rowe, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States
You know Vladimir Putin is a communicant in good standing with the Russian Orthodox Church, right?
In another setting, I asked you, Bishop Seitz, about what I think is the logical step for Roman Catholics to take if ICE agents who claim to be Roman Catholics ignore your concern and continue their jobs of murdering people--mostly immigrants, disappearing people--mostly immigrants, physically abusing people of all ages, lying. You name it. It is excommunication.
The symbols of Putin’s church
_____
ICE agents aside for the moment, what about Supreme Court justices who twist laws, accept payoffs, and all manner of evil to empower and faux legalize the physical abuse going on along with abuse of the poor, the sick, the aging among others?
They are much worse than ICE agents, don’t you think?
The six Trump justices are much much further away from the teachings of Jesus and the example of Jesus even than the ICE agents, don’t you think?
Bishop Rowe, this is where you come in since one of the six is an Episcopalian.
Can the Roman Catholic Church sit silently by while five of its communicants enable murder and abuse of the very kinds of people to whom Jesus gave most of his energy? Can the Episcopal Church sit silently by while one of its own does the same thing?
Yes it is true one can be a Catholic or a Protestant Episcopalian (or a Russian Orthodox communicant as in the case of Putin) and not be a follower of Jesus, but should that be the case?
I believe the faith groups to which these six justices belong must condemn their murderous and inhumane activities in the name of Jesus.
Pope Leo should weigh in also. Remember Hitler’s Pope? Pious XII.
Silence can be golden. It can also be wicked.
